Currently, people can qualify for Medicaid coverage based on their income, household size, disability and other factors but expanding the coverage would base qualifications solely on income.

According to a recent poll, more than 70 percent of Kansans support expanding medicaid.

Proponents say expanding medicaid will allow about 150,000 more Kansans to have access to healthcare.
