Mustang Public Schools have finalized their 2023 investment plan for their students.
Monday night, the Board of Education voted to call a bond election on February 14, 2023 for Mustang residents to consider the proposal.
The three-phase bond totals out to $180.9 million and will be a long-term project to ensure the needs over Mustang schools for the next 10 years.
The community of Mustang has seen growth over the last few years, and the district has been working to create a plan that will establish more space and facility upgrades for Mustang schools.
“We need to expand our elementaries, including the new elementary school number nine. As well as add additional classroom space at Mustang High School .Safety and security will also be recognized at each site, updating playground equipment, and transportation”, superintendent Charles Bradley said.
According to a demographic study released by Zonda, Mustang’s enrollment is expected to soar to nearly 20,000 students, this is over the next nine years – a 46% increase from the current school year.
Data from the Census shows more than 67,000 people in the Mustang school district--that's from the 2020 survey, up from around 46,000 from the 2010 Census.
The deadline to register to vote is Jan. 20,.and election day is Feb. 14.
