A review of practices a one major university health system in New York found disparities in the type of pain relief given to women in labor.

Researchers found African-American women are 50% less likely to receive any form of pain relief during childbirth than white women.

For C-section deliveries, Black women were more like to receive a general anesthetic, while white women were more likely to have an epidural.
