A man was seen at a parking garage near the Oklahoma County Courthouse carrying what appeared to be a rifle, prompting a search by law enforcement for nearly two hours Friday afternoon in downtown Oklahoma City.
The Oklahoma County Sheriff's Office said someone spotted the man in the parking garage wearing binoculars and carrying what looked like rifle slung on his back.
As a precaution, the courthouse stopped operations as police and deputies set up a perimeter in the area of North Harvey and Robert S Kerr avenues.
The Oklahoma City Police Department said officers responded at about 12:10 p.m. and searched the area with the Sheriff's Office. The Police Department also deployed a helicopter.
They cleared the scene at about 2 p.m. because they could not find the man. Police said no shots were fired, and no one was hurt.
The courthouse resumed normal operations after law enforcement gave the all-clear, Brian Maughan, chair of the Board of County Commissioners, said. He added that deputies remained on site and there were more patrols in the area
