Police said a vehicle driven by Yeol Kim was turning left onto the private drive leading to the Moore-Norman Technology Center when two trucks were heading eastbound at a high-rate speed on Southwest 134th Street.
A silver truck hit the rear of Kim’s vehicle before making an abrupt lane change in front of the other white truck involved.
The two trucks then collided, and the white truck departed the roadway to the right and collided with a tree.
Police said one of the passengers in the white truck, Colby McCarron, 15, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Three other 15-year-old passengers in the white truck were transported to the hospital in critical condition.
The 16-year-old driver in the white truck was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Kim and the 17-year-old driver in the silver truck were not injured.
The school district released this statement on Thursday:
