A metro man accused of targeting people experiencing homelessness was arrested after he was allegedly found to be making bombs inside his place of employment.
“I’m glad he's off the street, he had some kind of vendetta against homeless people,” a man who claimed he recently had a terrifying run in with the accused said.
The man, who did not want to be identified, said he was riding his bicycle near an Oklahoma City manufacturing business, when one of its employees, later identified as Troy Lee, made a beeline for him.
“He had on a ski mask, but I could see his eyes and part of his nose,” the man said.
The man said when Lee believed the man was experiencing homelessness, he became enraged, then Lee tried to shoot him.
“That's when he pulled out the gun, took a shot,” the man said.
The man said he was able to get away after he finally convinced Lee that he lived in a home nearby.
“I actually saw my life flash before my eyes at that point,” the man said.
After he was able to escape, the man said Lee turned his attention to a homeless camp located behind his place of employment.
“I looked up and saw the plume of smoke, I’m like oh no, he's burning the camps,” the man said.
The former homeless camp was reduced to charred rubble.
Weeks later, following the fire, the man said a series of explosions rattled the neighborhood.
“Every other day he was doing some big booms that would shake the ground and shake the windows in my house,” the man said.
Concerned neighbors called the police.
Court filings showed that in a field nearby officers found "a homemade explosive device."
According to reports, officers then saw Lee running into a warehouse building where he quickly shut a bay door.
Once inside, records showed police arrested Lee after they found "an additional homemade explosive device."
Days later, reports showed Lee’s employer contacted police after he became concerned about Lee's workstation.
Police returned, and in a backpack belonging to Lee, OKC Police Bomb Squad members determined it "contained an improvised explosive device manufacturing lab."
The business owner told police Lee recently told him " the only way to deal with the homeless is through violence."
“I heard that his explosion devices had like screws and nails, and stuff that would shoot out,” one man said.
Lee did have an outstanding warrant for his arrest out of Minnesota. He has multiple felony convictions including one for terroristic threats.
