Preparations Underway For OKC Art Council’s New Year’s Eve Opening Night Celebrations

The Oklahoma City Art Council is preparing the ball for the New Year’s Eve Opening Night celebrations.

Organizers said Oklahoma City raises the ball instead of dropping it because OKC never drops the ball.

It weighs about two tons, looks like a huge disco ball and has been around since 1994.

People can go and see it at the Finale Stage inside Bicentennial Park.

The final celebrations start at 9 p.m. on New Year's Eve, and the countdown will start 10 seconds before the new year.
