New Drug Could Delay Type 1 Diabetes

The Food and Drug Administration approved a drug aimed at delaying the onset of symptoms for people at high-risk for diabetes.

Around 2 million Americans have type 1 diabetes, with the number of cases rising daily.

One session of the new drug, T-Zield, costs $193,000.

Health officials said even thought the the one-time treatment is expensive, T-Zield could be a cost-saving treatment over a lifetime
