Driver In Stolen SUV Leads OKC Police On High-Speed Chase

One person is in custody, and no injuries have been reported after a high-speed chase in Oklahoma City. This chase became so dangerous, the Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office called off the pursuit until Oklahoma City Police joined the chase.

One person is in custody after a high-speed chase in Oklahoma City.

This chase became so dangerous, the Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office called off the pursuit until Oklahoma City Police joined the chase.

Despite the driver moving at 100 miles per hour and shooting at officers, no one was hurt.

“Extremely dangerous situation.” Deputy Aaron Brilbeck with the Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office said. “He had reached speeds of upwards of 100 miles per hour.”

Law enforcement chased a driver with a stolen SUV for more than an hour late Thursday afternoon. The Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office initially called off the pursuit to protect officers.

“We already knew who the suspect was and figured we could probably get him later because he was driving so recklessly,” Brilbeck said.

Oklahoma County Deputy Aaron Brilbeck said they believe the driver was involved in a domestic incident where he slashed someone’s tires.

“We believe it to be an ex-girlfriend,” Brilbeck said.

At one point the driver turned into the parking lot of the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum. The pursuit moved through Jones into parts of northeast Oklahoma City.

The driver got out of the stolen SUV at Chad Yousey’s home.

“When he opened up my truck door, that’s when it kinda clicked with me, this isn’t one of your kids' friends,” Yousey said.

Yousey said he usually leaves his keys in his truck but took them inside this time. However, he said this suspect took something else instead.

“He grabbed my pistol that was in my door panel,” Yousey said.

Moments later the driver got back in the SUV and the chase continued. The driver even fired shots at police before ending up right outside Danny and Sheila Mcallister’s yard just outside of Jones.

“We’ve just lived here a year and they said, ‘This is a nice quiet neighborhood,’” Danny Mcallister said.

Thursday’s pursuit is one people will remember.

“Yeah, yeah we will,” Sheila Mcallister said.

Everyone, including the driver behind the wheel of this dangerous chase, walked away unharmed.

“Honestly it’s a miracle nobody was injured or killed during the course of this,” Brilbeck said.

The Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office said no officers were injured in this pursuit. The driver is expected to face numerous charges.
