Oklahoma Representative Nominated For House Speaker

Oklahoma Rep. Kevin Hern (R) was nominated for the House Speaker position in two separate votes on Thursday.

"Who can unify the party? Who can deliver results? Representative Kevin Hern can do just that," Colorado Rep. Lauren Boebert (R) said during Hern's nomination. "I am proud to enter his name into the nomination."

Hern was recently elected chair of the Republican Study Committee.

"I’m happy as RSC chair, and there’s a lot we are already doing there," Hern said in a statement. "It’s something I’ll have to think and pray about before deciding if it’s a job I’ll run for."

The House has failed to elect a speaker in the past eleven votes.
