The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation has requested the Oklahoma Highway Patrol to search bodies of water in Grady County, possibly as part of an effort to locate a missing 4-year-old girl.

The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation has requested the Oklahoma Highway Patrol to search bodies of water in Grady County, possibly as part of an effort to locate a missing 4-year-old girl.

A large law enforcement presence was reported Saturday at a creek reservoir in Grady County.

Brownfield was reported missing on Tuesday. Law enforcement agencies and residents flocked to the small town searching for the little girl last seen in a pink butterfly sweater and pink pants. 

This is a case that has garnered national attention, as her two caretakers were arrested earlier this week.  

According to court records out of Maricopa County, AZIvon Adams was arrested on a pending murder charge.

“It’s horrifically shocking, like I said, this is one of those nice small rural towns and not a whole lot happens,” Garrett Raney, the Cyril Police Department’s chief, said. 

“This has been probably one of the craziest instances we have had here in a while. It certainly brought a lot of chaos to the community,” Raney said.  

Brownfield's older sister was found wandering near their home off West Nebraska Street in Cyril.  

“The postal worker found the 5-year-old, that is when police were notified,” Brook Arbeitman, the Public Information Officer at the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation, said. 

Both of their caretakers are behind bars, Alysia Adams was arrested on two complaints of child neglect.

Adams’ husband, Ivon Adams, was arrested in Arizona on an outstanding felony warrant for murder in the first degree out of Oklahoma and child neglect.  

“Trash service in town was suspended and that was in effort to search for additional clues as to Athena’s whereabouts. I want everyone to understand we are still looking for her,” Arbeitman said. 

Ivon was arraigned Friday and is awaiting extradition to Oklahoma. A court filing said evidence was found on a cell phone in his possession.

In the meantime, agents have conducted a search at Adams' former residence in Rush Springs, Okla.

Bob Mills SkyNews 9 was over the scene as investigators used drones as they continued looking for Athena. 

According to the court filing in Arizona, Ivon is a former marine. No word yet on when he will be brought back to Cyril.
