OKC Public Works Testing Out Beet Juice For Icy Roads Ahead Of Storm

The City of Oklahoma City is testing a new tactic to beat ice on the road.

Ice trucks tested a mixture of salt brine and beet juice on the roads Sunday.

Emergency management says the beet juice mixture melts ice in colder temperatures than just rock salt alone.

City officials say treated roads may have a slight red tint after treatment but will not stain your car.
