Local tailor, Jonathan Triplett, found his passion during the 2020 coronavirus lockdown, designing tailor-made suits for men.

It’s true, when you look good you do feel good, and Triplett is all about making men feel good about themselves.

“I’ve been in fashion for a long time, a very long time. I’ve loved fashion from an early age,” Jonathan Triplett, owner of Elm Grove clothing, said.

The college administrator by day has worked in colleges all over the world, but then he was forced into his destiny.

“The pandemic came and I kind of had to reinvent myself, because being in university administration everyone went virtual so, no one was on campus and jobs weren’t available,” Triplett said.

He started doing something he really had a passion for, designing tailor-made suits for men, and he simply posted the pictures on Facebook.

“Facebook has been my biggest avenue as far as reaching people and I post everything on Facebook, so I’ve done that to keep other people’s attention,” Triplett said.

Initially, Triplett sought out models for his suits, but realized pretty quickly, as a new business, that simply was not an option.

“I decided to do it myself. So that’s why all of the photos are from me and of me starting out with our company, because that’s just what we had to do,” Triplett said.

He named the company Elm Grove after his childhood neighborhood in Arkansas, and just two years in, the custom suits are showing up everywhere.

“We’ve done a few suits for coach Gundy at OSU, Senator Kevin Matthews, we’ve done some pieces for him just to name a few,” Triplett said.

Every suit is custom made down to the fit, the liner and even has the customer’s name inside.

“I’ll come out, I’ll take your measurements, and you pick out what you want, and it takes about three to four weeks for the suit to come back,” Triplett said.

But in making the suits, Jonathan understands this is a luxury some men never get to experience.

“This year we’ll also be giving away suits to the community. So anyone that wants to get a free suit to a local organization or a youth group or something like that, we will give free suits,” Triplett said.

Giving back is really kind of personal for Triplett.

“I didn’t have that growing up, I couldn’t afford a suit at all, and I know a lot of people can’t afford suits,” Triplett said.
