The Edmond ‘Wet Bandit’ was finally identified after hitting at least 30 faucets over the last month. The 'Wet Bandit' has been turning on the outside taps of peoples' homes, motive is still unknown.
An Edmond woman, Kali Rahn, said she was home one night with her family when she heard the sound of gushing water.
Edmond neighbors said there's been a pest lurking through their community for over a month.
“My water was running, her water was running, and then almost everybody on this street,” Rahn said.
Kali Rahn said she was eating dinner with her family when someone was just outside her dining room window turning on her faucet.
“I was sitting down. I had my fork in my hand and I hear my water start running and I looked at my husband and I thought ‘did our water turn on?’ he was like ‘no, why would it turn on?’ and I was like ‘it was definitely running,’” Rahn said.
People from all over town have been sharing their own experiences caught on surveillance video.
“I was a little freaked out. A little terrified that somebody was that comfortable walking on to somebody else's property and messing with their property especially because I have small kids that live with me,” Rahn said.
Police said they believe there is only one suspect, and they were able to identify him this week. They said he's someone they've dealt with in the past.
“We will be filing charges against him, but his charges will be out of custody so he will not be arrested and taken into jail. He will just have to go to court and go before a judge,” Emily Ward, Edmond police department public information officer said.
Right now, Edmond Police are only taking reports on this nuisance if there's video or significant damage done.
“I don't think that's going to slow him down. I think he'll be back for sure, but I don't know how to stop him because what can I do,” Rahn said.
Since the person is not in custody, Edmond police said if you see someone turning on faucets not to confront them, but to give them a call.
