Oklahoma is seeing a shift toward an endemic approach to COVID-19, according to state health officials.
An endemic is when the number of cases is neither increasing nor decreasing.
Doctors said while the situation has improved since the pandemic began, people are still dying from the virus, which is why it is important to try and prevent the spread.
"We all know that COVID-19 is not going away, and we're learning to live with it in the context of other priorities," Dr. Aaron Wendelboe from the OU College of Public Health said. "Even though you are tired of hearing about it, ignoring COVID-19 is not a healthy strategy."
The Healthier Oklahoma Coalition said they advise staying up-to-date on COVID-19 boosters to lower your risk of hospitalization from the virus.
