Jersey Mike's Month Of Giving For The Regional Food Bank Of Oklahoma

The calendar says it’s March, which at Jersey Mike’s means one thing, time to give back. 

“Jersey Mike’s has been doing the month of giving for 12 years now,” said Dani Treaster, regional manager for Jersey Mike’s. 

When customers come into any of the Jersey Mike’s locations and make a donation they receive a coupon redeemable for their next visit. 

“If you donate a dollar, you get a dollar off your next sub. If you donate three dollars you get a free chip and drink, and for five dollars you get a free regular sub,” said Treaster. 

For the past ten years the donations have gone to the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma, to fund the food for kids and the backpack program. 

“When you look in a child’s eye and they are hungry it’s just not acceptable,” said Stacy Dykstra, CEO of the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma.  

Dykstra says this year’s month of giving came at a much needed time. 

“We have people right now, you know they need more backpacks, pantries are being depleted more quickly in our middle schools, high schools and colleges,” said Dykstra.  

In addition to the daily donations throughout the month, the big day for the campaign is March 29th.  

“We’re going to donate one hundred percent of our sales to the regional food bank. It’s what we call our super bowl. It’s the best day of the year, everybody works,” said Treaster.  

And it’s not uncommon for employees to come together and make a donation themselves. For the last couple of years, the employees have come together and agreed to donate their tip money to the regional food bank.  

“I have to brag, the last time we did this in 2021, they broke their record, I believe, and knocked us off our feet with a 107,825 dollar check,” said Dykstra.  

And just how much of an impact will this type of donation have? 

“That helps to feed a thousand children for a year in one of our programs,” said Dykstra.  

It is initiatives like the month of giving that flood the Regional Food Bank with emotions. 

“All of that is just going to children that they don’t even know,” said Dykstra. 

Nationally, the company gives to charities in their local area, they hope to exceed last year’s record breaking total of 20 million dollars.
