The OKC Dream Center's transitional men’s living center was set to reopen after a terrible storm back in 2020. That all changed after another storm came through the area and destroyed everything the people there had worked s hard to build days away from the grand opening.
Through donations though, the OKC Dream Center is finally opening its doors again on Saturday.
The OKC Dream Center is a living space for men transitioning out of prison and reentering everyday society.
The Dream Center said that despite the trials, disruptions and catastrophic events, they never gave up.
"We took it from here and said 'let's double the capacity' and we built on all single and double room all throughout," co-founder and executive director Chase Parsons said.
On top of the extra bed space, an upstairs bathroom and showers have been added for the men living there. Another added feature, a computer lab for use any time.
Before the storms, the Dream Center could only house 12 men, but now, 21 are going to be moving in.
"What was meant for bad and destruction has turned around to basically enable us to have the ultimate dream of a [larger] capacity in order to have more men to get back into society successfully," Parsons said
The grand opening is set for 1 p.m. on Saturday, but by Tuesday, the men will be fully moved in and ready to start a new life.
