State Lawmakers are also working to create an Oklahoma Civil Rights Trail.

The state senate unanimously approved a measure that would connect all-Black towns, civil rights locations, the Greenwood District, and Black Wall Street as well as Native American sites. The authors of the bill say it will help promote tourism in the state while preserving our history.

"These stories put together will be a great opportunity for those who are interested in this great history to come to our state and enjoy our visitor centers across the state."

The proposed trail would begin at Standing Bear Park in Ponca City and would run through Tulsa before ending in Oklahoma City.
