An Oklahoma County man was arrested for allegedly raping a woman with an intellectual disability numerous times, according to a probable cause affidavit.

The document, filed in Oklahoma County District Court on Tuesday, stated that 64-year-old Michael Barraw, of Jones, was booked into the Oklahoma County Detention Center on Friday.

The victim, who was diagnosed with mild intellectual disabilities and depression and was a resident at an assisted living facility, told police that Barraw raped her numerous times, starting when she was 21 years old, stated the probable cause affidavit. The victim said Barrow raped her on several occasions in Oklahoma City and Jones, despite her protests, the document said.

The affidavit further stated that when the victim moved to a different city with her boyfriend, Barraw allegedly called her often to threaten the couple. The victim told police that when she tried to ignore Barraw, he would threaten to kill himself, even going as far as sending a photo of himself with a gun to his head.

The victim told police that Barraw later resumed raping her once she moved back into town, according to the affidavit.

The sexual assaults continued even after the victim moved to an assisted living center in the fall of 2022, stated the affidavit. The victim told police that Barraw had been checking her out of the facility to rape her at various motels, the document said. The victim further told investigators that Barraw made her promise to never tell anyone about the assaults. Otherwise, he would hurt the victim's boyfriend and the staff at the assisted living facility, the affidavit stated.

The affidavit also included text exchanges between Barraw and the victim that were provided by the assisted living facility. The text messages that Barraw allegedly sent to the victim included various threats. Below is an excerpt.

Suspect: "you might auto get your story straight with (redacted) before you lie to me I'm leaving Jones in a few minutes coming up there we will get it straight then I going to f--- him up and this. A promise I keeping so be ready to give up your phone... Victim: "I am tired of being threatened all the time and its getting old and I am sorry I just dint feel the same way you do my heart doesn't belong to anyone at all just me."

Jones Police went to Barraw's place of work in Oklahoma City on Friday, March 10, and took him into custody. During his interview with investigators, Barraw admitted that he had been having sex with the victim, the affidavit said. Barraw also told police that while the victim was a resident at the assisted living facility, he would check her out on Saturday mornings and take her to hotels, where they would have sex, according to the document. He would take the victim shopping afterward.

When police asked Barraw if he knew about the victim's mental status, he said she was "slow and that "she could be talked into anything," the affidavit stated.

Barraw was taken to the Oklahoma County Detention Center following the interview with police. He was booked on the following possible charges: first-degree rape committed upon a person incapable through mental illness or any unsoundness of mind of giving legal consent and rape by instrumentation. He is being held on a $100,000 bond.
