Oklahoma Forestry Services says it's putting up traps in trees to monitor beetles that kill Ash trees.

They are looking for Emerald Ash Borers, a beetle from Asia that attacks ash trees. The beetles have destroyed tens of millions of native trees in the US. OFS says they have only found one in Oklahoma over the past seven years, but they've seen them in southern Missouri and that it is just a matter of time before they migrate.

Experts say the best way to prevent the spread of those beetles is to only buy local firewood.
