The mother of a missing Oklahoma toddler was arrested in North Carolina as investigators continued to search for the 2-year-old girl.
Oaklee Mae Snow, of Cromwell in Seminole County, was last seen on Jan. 19. Her mother, 22-year-old Madison Marshall, took Oaklee and her baby brother, Coltan, to Indianapolis, according to the children's father, Zac Snow. Marshall's boyfriend was reportedly traveling with them.
"Oaklee was a happy baby," recalled family friend April Kelley. "She has the biggest eyes and she's beautiful. She has the best smile."
Zac Snow said he heard that Marshall dropped their daughter off anonymously at a hospital in Indiana after the 2-year-old had some sort of medical emergency. Meanwhile, Coltan Snow was left in a home by himself, but someone found him and called Child Protective Services, said Zac Snow. Colton has since been returned to his father.
Zac Snow said he called as many hospitals as he could find, but no one knew where his daughter was. Zac Snow said he filed a missing persons report on Feb. 9. Since then, the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department has been handling the case.
"My heart's just broken and I really am in disbelief," said Kelley. "We just really want to find Oaklee and I pray for her every night. It's kept me up at night."
With the help of the FBI, detectives arrested Marshall in Harnett County, North Carolina, on March 23 after receiving an anonymous tip, according to the Harnett County Sheriff's Office. She was jailed on an $80,000 secured bond and was awaiting extradition. Her court appearance was set for April 4.
"We keep searching Madison's records. I know I bring them up at least twice a day to see if anything might have been added to her record just to give us a little insight on what's being said or what's going on," said Kelley. "We don't have anything."
Meanwhile, a man whose name matches that of Marshall's boyfriend was arrested in Arapahoe County, Colorado, on a fugitive of justice charge. According to Oklahoma State Courts Network, a bench warrant for that man was issued in Okfuskee County on child abuse and domestic assault charges.
News 9 called the Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office, the Harnett County Sheriff's Office, the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, and an agent with the FBI to get more information on the case. But as of Tuesday evening, the agencies had not returned the calls. The Seminole County Sheriff's Office told News 9 that they had been forwarding all tips to Indianapolis Metro Police.
Anyone with information on Oaklee Snow's whereabouts is asked to call the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department's Missing Persons unit at 317-327-6160 or call Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana at 317-262-8477.
