As Oklahoma City police actively investigate a mass shooting at a southwest Oklahoma City bar, the attack has the bar owner and regular customers on edge. They say they are grieving the friends they lost.
“Everybody is still very shook up,” said Lisa Harvey, bar patron. “Very emotional.”
Lisa Harvey said the Whiskey Barrel Saloon on Newcastle Road and south Shawnee Avenue was a safe place where everyone is treated like family.
“We hug each other when we get here,” said Harvey. “We hug each other when we go home. It’s a true family here.”
Harvey was one of dozens who showed up to support the business owner as soon as Oklahoma City police cleared the scene. They cleaned up the aftermath of a horrific shooting that took the lives of three men and injured three others Saturday night.
“There’s still fragments and some remnants,” said Harvey. “We did try to clean up as much as we could.”
Witnesses said they ran for cover under pool tables and to a nearby business as the gunmen opened fire on the crowd. Bullet holes riddled the walls and furniture.
The victims' families and their extended bar family will be forever impacted by the violent attack.
“Quit the killing,” said Harvey. “One of the guys that passed was a father. These people are fathers, brothers, sisters, mothers, friends, loved ones. Just stop, just stop.”
Online fundraisers have been started for several of the shooting victims and their families.
