Little Axe Public Schools has suspended a teacher after reports that they were allegedly in possession of drug paraphernalia at the high school, the district said.
The district said they removed students from the classroom and placed the school on lockdown while they investigated.
The district said that paraphernalia was found, and the teacher was suspended.
The teacher had voluntarily left the school without incident, the district said.
The district released the following statement:
This morning we received a report that a teacher was in possession of drug paraphernalia at the high school. We immediately removed students from the classroom, called law enforcement, and investigated the situation. The building was locked down during the investigation and contact with law enforcement. The paraphernalia was found. The teacher has been suspended from duties pending further action and voluntarily left school without incident. At no time was the safety of students ever threatened. We will continue to cooperate with law enforcement as needed. It is illegal to possess drug paraphernalia on school property and such conduct will not be tolerated by Little Axe Public Schools. Little Axe Public Schools takes the safety of our students seriously and will take all appropriate action to protect all students.
