A former kitchen manager at the Grady County Jail is now facing criminal charges. She's accused of being intimate with an inmate working in her department.

Pamela Middleton is facing a second-degree rape complaint for having sex with an inmate. This interaction landed her behind bars in the same facility where she once served as a manager.

According to court documents, the Grady County Jail first learned of the alleged incident from an anonymous tip. Someone came forward and said Pamela Middleton approached them about a sexual interaction she had with an inmate.

She told the tipster she had sex with an inmate inside the kitchen walk-in freezer. She asked, "what would happen if she were to be caught?"

Middleton works for an outside contractor that provides kitchen services to the jail. The probable cause affidavit said she has direct supervision over county inmates that work as trustees in the jail kitchen.

Law enforcement said they were able to confirm Middleton was in the freezer with an inmate based on surveillance camera near the freezer. The camera showed Middleton and the inmate walking in the freezer multiple times over a span of five days, each time less than five minutes.

Investigators questioned Middleton. According to the affidavit, she told investigators she initiated it because she was attracted to the inmate.

Even though the inmate made it clear to investigators it was consensual, Oklahoma law disagrees.

It said as an inmate, he cannot consent to sex with a contractor for the jail.

Middleton's bond was set at $25,000. The Grady County Jail said she has bonded out.

News 9 reached out to the jail and Middleton's employer for a comment and have not heard back.
