Oklahoma County prosecutors dismissed the murder charge against Scott Brown after seeing new evidence.
Brown has been a suspect in two deadly shooting cases in Oklahoma City that were only months apart. Prosecutors determined both shootings were self-defense.
“I think justice has worked more than once,” Dan Pond, an attorney, said.
Pond with the Swain Law Group represented Brown in a 2022 News Year's Day murder case. Brown was arrested and charged for the death of his best friend Jonathan Camren.
Police said the men were in a road rage incident with another driver and her passenger Christopher Ward.
“It was an unfolding situation where he saw a threat to Jonathan Camren fairly quickly,” Pond said. “So, both defense of self and his friend Jonathan Camren.”
While Brown fired his gun during the altercation, Pond said new medical evidence revealed the deadly shot was actually fired by the passenger in the other car. Ward has not been arrested or charged in connection to the deadly shooting.
“His conflicting statements after the preliminary hearing along with our medical evidence might convince the DA’s office otherwise,” Pond said. “But I don’t know that for sure.”
The new evidence did convince the District Attorney’s office to dismiss the murder charge against Brown.
Ironically, Brown and two other men were arrested in 2021 for the shooting death of 19-year-old Daniel Green. Prosecutors declined to file charges against the men ruling the shooting self-defense.

Despite his client's history Pond does not believe Brown is a danger to society.
“Self-defense is a very strong thing in Oklahoma. We believe in self-defense, we like self-defense,” Pond said. “While most people don’t get into that situation on a regular basis it does happen.”
Brown was convicted on one count of pointing a firearm and can no longer legally own a gun.
