The family of a Blanchard woman recently killed by her husband in a murder-suicide shooting spoke out on Thursday about the tragic loss and how they are picking up the pieces. Law enforcement said Konrad Pfannenstiel also shot a Blanchard police officer last weekend. The couple left behind two small children.
Michelle Clark spoke to News 9 outside the family’s home in Blanchard and said they will lay her stepsister, 30-year-old Ashley Pfannenstiel to rest on Friday.
“It’s no longer a crime scene,” said Michelle Clark, victim’s stepsister. “But it’s just a hard, heavy feeling.”
Clark was the first to get the call from law enforcement last Saturday morning. Her stepsister was being held hostage by her husband.
“I had to tell my parents, so that was difficult,” said Clark.
Once law enforcement made it into the home, they found the couple's bodies.
“They busted almost every window except the very front,” said Clark.
Clark's parents were watching the couple's children who are ages one and two. Clark said the family recently moved to Oklahoma from Colorado and her stepsister's husband was not adjusting well.
“I think the move here caused him some mental health issues. He was depressed and had high anxiety and I think that’s what started it all,” said Clark. “You always hear that like ‘This person would never do anything like that,’ we never thought he would either.”
Clark and other family members are now caring for the children and deciding their future. A reality no one ever expected.
“After the dust settles and she’s buried tomorrow you know everybody forgets about it,” said Clark. “But there’s going to be some lasting financial things we have to tie up.”
Clark’s friends are holding a benefit dinner for the children and a GoFundMe has been started to help with extra expenses.
