The University Of Oklahoma has set a new fundraising record during OU Giving Day 2023, according to an email sent to News 9 and News On 6 on Friday.
The university raised $22,647,864, a single-day fundraising record, after donations were received from all 50 states.
The money fundraised will help support Lead On: The University of Oklahoma’s Campaign for the Future, which is aimed to make changes to the university and create new opportunities for both students and faculty. The campaign has already raised over $775 million after launching in 2020.
There were a total of 5,035 gifts received, 16 of the gifts totaled $250,000 and above.
This includes $3 million from the McDonald family, $3 million form Millard Brent, $2 million from Tom Lorz, $1.5 million from the Farzaneh Family Foundation, $1 million from Duane Motsenbocker, $1 million from Michael Wilson, $1 million from the Do family and two gifts of $3.5 million and $1.3 million from anonymous donors.
“The Lead On campaign for OU is more than just a fundraising effort – it’s a bold vision for the future of our university that changes lives,” OU President Joseph Harroz Jr. said. “Thanks to the incredible generosity of our donors, we are well on our way to transforming our university and creating even greater opportunities for our students and faculty.”
