MHS Families,
It is with a heavy heart that I confirm what many of you may have heard; Peyton Sims, a senior at Mustang High School, passed away yesterday evening in a car accident. Our sincere condolences go out to the family and all who have been affected by this tragedy.
A student death is a difficult and challenging situation that can generate a high level of anxiety and distress for students. We have grief counselors at MHS today to provide additional support to the school family.
If you feel that your student is having difficulty, we encourage you to discuss his/her thoughts and feelings to help them work through the grieving process. This can be a difficult subject to broach with your child(ren), and we want to provide you with this resource to help guide support for children of all ages. Please also consider monitoring and discussing your student’s communications (social media, phone, e-mail and/or text messages) to further assess needs and concerns.
