More than 150 families are one step closer to finding their missing loved ones thanks to multiple state and federal agencies who teamed up for Oklahoma Missing Persons Day.
The event was held at the University of Central Oklahoma's Forensic Science Department.
Those who attended were able to provide DNA testing, photographs of their missing family members, and speak one on one with agents.
Forensic scientists and medical examiners said the best thing families looking for missing loved ones can do is submit their DNA, and fill out a missing persons form to the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System.
DNA testing and creating a NAMUS account are both free.
As of April 2023, there are 697 Oklahomans entered into NAMUS.
The next Oklahoma Missing Persons Day will be at UCO's Forensic Science Department April 27, 2024.
