President Biden declared a major disaster exists in the State of Oklahoma and ordered federal aid to supplement state, tribal and local recovery efforts affected by severe weather last week.
According to the White House, federal funding is now available to affected individuals in McClain and Pottawatomie Counties. Assistance can include housing and home repair grants, low-cost loans to cover uninsured property losses, and other programs for individuals and business owners recovering from the effects of the disaster.
Certain private nonprofit organizations are also eligible for funding.
"Damage assessments are continuing in other areas," the White House said. "More counties and additional forms of assistance may be designated after the assessments are fully completed."
