Four people died in a crash in Pawnee County Friday night and investigators are still piecing together what happened.
A small memorial now sits on Highway 48 in Pawnee County where the crash happened.
"After the crash, both vehicles caught fire. It was a horrific accident and scene," said Trooper Eric Foster.
Oklahoma Highway Patrol said RaeAnn Crank had 17-year-old Montana Hendrix in the car when she crossed the center line.
When she crossed the line, Crank hit a car driven by Scotty Kelley whose passenger was Lacey Carlson, OHP said.
"Unfortunately a mistake was made somewhere, and it costs lives, but not only one life, it costs four lives," Foster said.
Foster said investigators will now work to figure out what exactly happened and what caused Crank to cross the center line.
"These rural state highways, they can be so very dangerous, and people really need to give respect to these roadways," he said.
The Pawnee County Sheriff's Office shared on social media that Crank was a former jailer, who was funny and kind.
They shared Scotty Kelley was a dedicated father of three and a true friend. He served several tours in Iraq, and had worked as a paramedic at Tinker Airforce Base.
They shared Montana Hendrix had just been crowned prom queen in Prue, had her first job, and was going to graduate next month. They said she was the baby of her family, who held them all together.
Foster said this crash is heartbreaking for everyone involved.
"These lives, these people were involved in communities, so it affects a lot of other people. And first responders having to respond to these scenes, and see these scenes, and have to make next of kin notifications, all of these things," he said.
