A settlement demand involving a student’s bullying and assault case against the high school’s football coach was on the agenda Monday for Kingfisher Public Schools.

A football player, known in the case as John Doe, is claiming he was violently attacked and bullied, all at the direction of the team’s coach.

The School Board met for an hour and a half in executive session, and authorized their attorneys to speak with John Doe’s attorneys in regards to the settlement.

Many parents and about a dozen football players left the meeting more confused, and without answers about the future of the football program.

John Doe’s attorneys are asking for Football Coach Jeff Myers to be fired. On top of that, 5 million dollars and mandatory training and programs reported to the state board of education.

John Doe described daily bullying, harassment and abuse. It is also alleged that the Kingfisher football team coaches knew what was going on and even encouraged it.

Myers has a record of successful seasons dating back to 2005 when he began teaching and coaching at Kingfisher.

Inside the executive session that took place tonight no votes were taken. The school board has no comment. Myers did not attend the meeting.
