A metro family honored their daughter’s life by choosing to remember all that Madeline Bills, 18, accomplished as they navigate her suspicious death. The Moore High School student was found raped and dead inside her home two weeks ago.
Bill's family and friends held a celebration of life at a southwest Oklahoma City church earlier this week. The 18-year-old was remembered as a competitive basketball player at Moore High School and someone who gave her all to those she loved.
Her mother shared a statement with News 9 saying in part, "We want Madeline's life to be forever defined by how she lived, how she loved, and the countless ways she uplifted everyone."
The family did not want to comment on the investigation or the arrest of 19-year-old Chace Cook, the victim's ex-boyfriend. He was recently taken into custody in Chicago for first-degree rape. Moore police noted in court documents Cook recorded himself while assaulting Bills and that she was unconscious. Cook claimed he was not in Oklahoma at the time of Bills' death. Moore police have evidence that contradicts what Cook told investigators.
“We obtained surveillance video from a neighbor’s resident that showed us a subject climbing over the fence the morning of Madeline’s death,” said Lt. Wes Yost, Moore Police Department. “And a subject’s vehicle in that area at that time as well.”
Moore police said Cook will likely face additional charges once they receive the medical examiner’s report.
