Tulsa Ballet is wrapping up its season this weekend with the show, Signature Series.

Signature Series is a show featuring three unique dances to end Tulsa Ballet's season on a high note.

This Thursday through Sunday, May 11-13, Tulsa Ballet will perform its final shows of the season before starting again in September.

Signature Series is a combination of three works.

"Cacti" is a contemporary dance production known for its humorous critique of art interpretation.

It's also the world premiere for "Within," created by a choreographer from Poland. And dancers will perform "While You Were Gone," choreographed and created by Jennifer Weber.

This week, Weber was nominated for two Tony Awards for her choreography on Broadway. She first brought her piece to Tulsa Ballet after the pandemic.

"While You Were Gone is inspired by the idea of a ghost light. A ghost light is a light on stage that some people think is left on for safety, so people don't get hurt at night. But those of us in the theater like to believe the ghost light has much more meaning, and we think of the ghost light as something that keeps ghost out of the theater so that they don't haunt the performers of today," Weber said.

A hip-hop artist at heart, she is combining her style with ballet in a collaboration that tells a story.

"And how these two worlds, that you might think don't go together, can come together to do something new and exciting and beautiful on stage," Weber said.
