Cedar Ridge Country Club in Broken Arrow is prepped and ready for some of golf's best players to tee off.
LIV Golf players started arriving at Cedar Ridge Country Club on Monday. The golf course said it has hosted major tournaments before, but this would be its first-ever professional men’s tournament.
“When you look back at the tradition of the club, we have had a lot of ladies' professional events, we have had national men's amateur events, and we have had national junior events," said Director of Golf David Bryan. "Really this was the one thing missing from Cedar Ridge was men's professional golf, so we are really excited to have 48 of the best here for LIV Golf Tulsa."
The LIV Golf League is set up a little differently than other professional tournaments with 12 teams, 48 players, 18 fewer holes to play and lots of action for fans to enjoy.
Bryan said the golf course had about six months to prepare. One change he said they had to make was reversing the nines, so the ninth green will now be the eighteenth.
The golf course also had to meet very specific requirements in order to host.
"We worked with LIV Golf to prepare the golf course for what they would like us to have, specifically, fairway heights, green heights, bunker sand depths, and yardages."
He said now that it is finally here, Cedar Ridge is excited to host an event unlike any it has done before. All 120 of its staff members, along with 525 volunteers are working the tournament. Bryan said LIV Golf told them that would set a new record.
