A man charged with beating an Oklahoma City police officer to the point of unconsciousness has a history of violence.

Court documents revealed in 2021 DeAngelo Wright was charged with assault and battery after an Oklahoma County inmate suffered a skull fracture.

DeAngelo Wright was one of six inmates charged with the 2021 attack.

While some of the beating was captured on camera, court filings showed the inmate declined to prosecute. The case was dismissed two days before the attack on Oklahoma City Police Sgt. Morgan Reynolds.

Sargent Morgan Reynolds was captured on her police body camera confronting DeAngelo Wright.

Police: Are you DeAngelo? Are you DeAngelo?
DeAngelo: No.

According to court filings, police were called to the apartment three times April 27, 2023.

The first time, after Wright's girlfriend called 911 and claimed Wright had "grabbed her by the throat, with both hands, and began to strangle her."

Disappearing before officer's could catch him, the filings said DeAngelo returned to the apartment for the third time while warning his girlfriend "he would wait for the police," but stated "he wasn't going back to prison…”

Seconds later Sgt. Morgan Reynolds attempted to arrest Wright.

Police: Put your hands behind your back.

Video from Reynold’s body camera showed Wright unleashed a vicious attack.

Sargent Reynolds was beaten unconscious, and was hospitalized for days.

During the attack, new court documents revealed Wright also punched his cousin several times after she attempted to "stop the attack."

Records also showed Wright was convicted of domestic assault on a previous girlfriend in 2019 after "stomping and hitting her until she fell out of a car."

Wright was formally charged Monday with maiming Sgt. Reynolds, and remains jailed on a ten million dollar bond.
