Local high school students help produce a weekly radio show called The Juice.

They are raising money for a trip to CNN'S headquarters this summer.

The students say they're sharpening their media skills by covering a wide range of topics and say going to CNN will give them the chance to learn from professionals in the business.

Niya Rhodes has been a part of The Juice Radio Show for a year. Niya says she's always had an interest in media so she's glad she was asked to be a part of it.

"I thought radio was already a cool concept and I thought it was already fun to do, so I was like oh yeah I want to do this," Rhodes said.

The Juice Radio Show focuses on broadcasting and journalism, but also gives students an outlet to do something positive.

"I really enjoy being able to go out in the community and help and serve my community all while doing it with my friends and just having a fun time," Rhodes said.

The show was started by Bobby Eaton, who has his own radio show.

He wants teenagers to do something impactful in their community and to do something that prepares them for their futures. Trey Eaton students have traveled to many places to learn from people already in the industry.

"We're giving them the opportunity to visualize what it's like to be in the broadcasting industry," Eaton said.

Tiller Watson has been on the show for a couple years and says he helps run the show by checking equipment, scheduling guests, and helping with the flow of the show.

"It's been something I've always wanted to do," Watson said.

He’s thankful for the experiences that the show has given him.

"Being able to have those experiences and actually travel the world and see different things is a different feeling," Watson said.

The students go live every Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. You can listen to them on 8.9 FM and they're looking for good guests to come on the show.
