Martin Regional Library in Tulsa is celebrating Asian culture.

The library is hosting a festival this weekend as part of Asian Pacific American Heritage Month.

Different cultural items are on display from China and Thailand to Japan and Korea for people in the community and staff members to showcase their heritage.

The annual Asian-American Festival is on Saturday, May 20 a family-friendly event hosted by Tulsa City County Library.

You can watch live performances from a Japanese drum team to several dance teams like the China Roses, a traditional folk dance troupe.

There will be Asian inspired arts and crafts and activities, like a guided meditation and traditional Korean games.

"It's an opportunity for the community to come together and just celebrate and learn more about the diversity of Asian-American cultures, both in our country, but also here locally, right in our neighborhood,” Howard said.

Tulsa County City Library Regional Manager Rebecca Howard said art will be on display from the Kyoto Art Exchange.

Students in Kyoto send artwork to Oklahoma through the Oklahoma Chamber of Commerce.

"It's a really nice glimpse into their daily lives. And then we reciprocate, we return artwork to Kyoto from students in Oklahoma. So it's just a great cultural exchange,” Howard said.

Of course, you can taste different cuisines and treats like Boba tea, Filipino Street food, and Indian food.

"Also for people to not only learn something new, but just have a really fun time and enjoy that sense of community that I think we've all missed a lot in the last three years. So it's just a great opportunity to reconnect with others,” Howard said.

The festival is on Saturday, May 20 at Martin Regional Library from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
