There are signs posted outside the Oklahoma Institute of Allergy and Asthma in Edmond saying they're experiencing a security breach and are looking into it. News 9 reached out to the FBI and they tell us they're not aware of a report.
A crowd of confused and angry patients formed outside the Oklahoma Institute of Allergy and Asthma. Patients were showing up for an appointment only to be met with locked doors.
“It's pretty frustrating to say the least,” Landon Schmidt said.
Schmidt had an appointment for 11:45 Tuesday morning, but new hours posted on the door said they're only open from 3:30- 6 p.m.
“I'm not going to be able to come back at 3:30 today,” Schmidt said.
OIAA used to have clinics in Norman and Yukon, but both have since closed.
“It's mostly an hour drive here and back. It's kind of annoying going up here and being like ‘oh i can't get that today. I'm going to have to come back in a day or in a week’ or whatever,” Schmidt said.
Now, the phones are down and there's just one drive-up window for patients needing help. One patient telling News 9 they've filed a complaint with the Oklahoma Medical Board.
The Board said they're aware of the closure and are asking patients to make a formal complaint.
Meanwhile, the FBI said they're unaware of any security breach.
“I'm allergic to, like, all of tree nuts and then some mold, some trees I’m not sure what kind of trees and a lot of grass. I mean it's probably been like my fourth year getting allergy shots,” Schmidt said.
News 9 did reach out to the board asking what patients should do and News 9 has not heard back. We also asked staff at the clinic if we could speak with Dr. Amy Darter and they would not let us inside.
