Two 17-year-old males were arrested Monday morning in connection to overnight shootings in Norman, police said.

An officer encountered a suspicious person in the parking lot of an apartment complex around 2:30 a.m., police said.

The suspect appeared to be trying to burglarize vehicles and when the officer approached him, the suspect shot at the officer, police said. The officer returned fire and the suspect ran from that scene, police said.

Around 7 a.m. the same day, the suspect vehicle was found, police said. Police said they stopped the vehicle and two 17-year-olds were taken into custody.

Police said they determined the suspects were also involved in a drive-by shooting just after 12 a.m. on the same day.

Both suspects were arrested on a charge of Use of a Vehicle to Facilitate the Intentional Discharge of a Firearm, police said.

The juvenile who shot at the officer was also arrested on one count of Shooting with the Intent to Kill, police said.

This is a developing story.
