UCO Softball Heads To Tennessee For D2 National Championship

For the first time in a decade, the University of Central Oklahoma softball team is headed to the Division 2 Championship.

UCO is one of 8 teams that will compete for the title in Chattanooga, Tennessee. The Bronchos secured the 2-seed. 

UCO opens with Nova Southeastern at 3 p.m. on Thursday, May 25. 

The 4 winners of first-round games will play again on Friday, May 26 while the losers will take the day off and move into the consolation bracket on Saturday, May 27. Pool play will wrap up on Sunday, May 28 with the teams advancing to the best-of-three National Championship series beginning May 30.

Every girl on UCO's roster is from Oklahoma. This year's team set a school record, winning 52 games so far. The Bronchos won the MIAA Conference regular season and tournament championships. 

UCO softball is looking for its first national title since 2013.
