The video of Isaiah “Zay” Jarvis hugging a pitcher during the Little League Regional in August of 2022 has gotten international attention.
As a result, he decided he wanted to use that fame to do something to help other players.
After the video blew up on social media, Zay wanted to do Something Good with the experience. He and his family decided to start a foundation.
"We get money, and buy equipment to give the kids who want to play baseball but don't have enough money to play baseball, to get the right equipment, and eventually through that, lead them to Christ," said Zay.
Zay's father, Austin Jarvis, is proud of his son and all of the attention he's received.
"I think it's probably every father's dream to have your kid highlighted in a positive way,” said Austin. “I was a baseball coach, so having it modeled through baseball makes it even more special for me."
The Jarvis family wants other kids to have the same experiences on the diamond as Zay has had, and hopes this foundation will do that.
"Baseball has made a huge impact on his life and is something that he loves, and he just wanted to make sure that all kids have that opportunity,” said Austin. “So that led into starting the foundation and having a way to give back to those kids."
Zay is grateful for the past ten months and all the people who have supported him on this journey.
"It's really great, I'm really happy to see that they're here and they support me," said Zay.
