While it did provide some setbacks, the weekend storms did not stop gymnasts from all over the country from getting to Tulsa for the USA Gymnastics Championships.

The competition is being held at the Cox Business Convention Center and BOK Center through Friday and brings together Olympians and World Medalists.

2X Olympic trampoline athlete Nicole Ahsinger said, "All year we have been trying to accumulate a certain number of points to make national team, so going into this competition I know that I have to do what I am supposed to do and hopefully I will make it."

"This is my 11th national championships which I feel old, even though I am only 21 years old, but I am super excited to be here," said World Games Gold Medalist Kaden Brown. "Nationals is always my favorite event, and this arena is so nice here in Tulsa."

Brown and Ahsinger are two of the top athletes in their discipline. "Tumbling is not your typical artistic gymnastics. It is a very long rod, fiberglass floor, 8 skills down the floor to a mat hoping to stick the landing," said Brown.

Ahsinger has her sights set on Paris 2024. "I really enjoy getting on the trampoline, I feel like I am flying," she continued saying, "It is a great experience and my whole life I wanted to be an Olympian and now I have achieved that twice and I am headed for hopefully my third time."

About 2,000 acrobatic, rhythmic, trampoline and tumbling gymnasts are in Tulsa for the USA Gymnastics Championships. Director of Event Operations Scott Cole said the recent storms caused a few minor setbacks.

"At the Cox Business Convention Center, there was some damage to the roof," he added. "They were very accommodating. We were able to move some halls which was wonderful so when we were able to do that, the competition went on as planned. We did have to relocate some athletes to some other hotels where there were power outages and whatnot."

However, with Oklahomans' support, the show will go on. "This city has really rallied around us, from the hotels to the Cox Business Convention Center, and here at the BOK Center," said Cole. "It really took an army to kind of make this event happen."

The public can purchase tickets for the competition here.
