The City of Tulsa says a large number of people are illegally dumping tree limbs in city parks, on the side of roads and even in school parking lots.

Tulsa Mayor G.T. Bynum says the pop-up Green Waste Mulch Site is extremely busy with more than 550 trucks coming through on Wednesday. Mayor Bynum said he felt it was upsetting that, despite the free drop-off site, some people are choosing to dump waste on school grounds and city parks.

"We talk all the time about how education in Oklahoma is underfunded. And yet you would go dump stuff on school grounds, so our school districts have to pay to clean it up? Ridiculous," Mayor Bynum said.

Tulsa residents can dump limbs for free at the city's mulch site at East Latimer and 89th East Avenue. The site is open daily from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Illegal dumping carries a fine of up to $500.
