An accused shooter was released Tuesday by Oklahoma City Police after hours of questioning in connection to a deadly gas station shooting.

Oklahoma City Police said the suspect shot and killed a man who walked into a 7-Eleven Tuesday morning near Northwest 31st Street and Classen Boulevard.
Police did not release if the shooting was in self-defense or if the victim had a gun. Investigators will turn the case over the Oklahoma County District Attorney’s Office to review and decide if charges apply.
“It’s terrible, so sad,” Steve Hunt, a concerned citizen, said.
Hunt sat only feet from the city's latest deadly shooting investigation. His favorite coffee shop is across the street from a 7-Eleven gas station that turned into a crime scene.
“It’s just troubling,” Hunt said. “We’re seeing so much of this lately, you know. We got to get to the bottom of it.”
Police said responding officers found 42-year-old Dominic Hill inside the store deceased. Hill's relatives told News 9 he was a father of two and questioned why a 7-Eleven employee had a gun while at work.
“A clerk here shot a person who came in the store,” Captain Michelle Henderson with the Oklahoma City Police Department said. “The witness who was with the victim called 911 and the clerk fled.”
Police said Hill's girlfriend worked at the store and witnessed an altercation between her co-worker and boyfriend. Police did not reveal what the fight was over.
A couple hours after the shooting, officers located the suspect not far from the store. He was taken to police headquarters for questioning and released pending further investigation.
Those who watched from the other side of the yellow tape question their safety in a place they did not expect to see gun violence.
“I hope we can get to the root of the social problems making so much of this happen,” Hunt said.
Police did not release the suspect’s name because he was not arrested and taken to jail.
