Oklahoma City Police opened an investigation on Tuesday into the city’s latest deadly shooting on the northeast side of the city. One person died and another was injured after a drive-by shooting.

Police said the surviving victim did not give investigators many details about the car involved in the shooting or suspect descriptions. However, police do not think there is a danger to the public.

A resident near Northeast 11th and Fonshill Avenue called police around 9 p.m. on Tuesday after hearing gunshots near their home.

“When officers arrived, they found one person deceased,” said Msgt. Gary Knight, Oklahoma City Police Department. “Another one wounded.”

The surviving victim was able to tell officers they were walking down the street when a car pulled up next to them. The victim recalled seeing several people in the car and told police someone inside opened fire on them. The car then left the scene.

“The person who wasn’t killed was transported to an area hospital,” said Knight. “He is expected to recover.”

Police have not released the names of either victim. They said the deadly shooting is an active investigation and detectives are checking home security cameras in the area.

“We’re talking to the victim at the hospital. The investigators just got there,” said Captain Michelle Henderson, Oklahoma City Police Department. “So, we’re trying to narrow down what happened and look for video, things like that.”

The public is asked to leave tips by calling the homicide tip line.
