A young mother and her 10-month-old son were found alive hours after a state-wide amber alert sounded.

The missing woman said she's safe along with her 10-month-old son and they're on their way home right now.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol sent out the alert Wednesday afternoon.

“The mother was believed to have been abducted. She had the child with her, so therefore the child was also abducted. Therefore, the Amber Alert was issued for the child and the missing and endangered was issued for the mother,” Trooper Brack Miller said.

By Thursday morning, they were found safe. The missing woman Alyssia Lee sent me a picture of her and her son Ka'Marion Lee.

“Less than 24 hours, she and the child were recovered in Houston,” Miller said.

OHP issued the alert following a request from the Norman Police Department. Police said the mother and son left their home over the weekend but didn't return on Sunday when she said she would be home.

“There's been no ability to contact her. There's been no communication between the mother and her family or friends. This began to raise concern,” Miller said.

Norman Police said she was last seen in Norman and believed Alyssia and Ka'Marion Lee could've been in significant danger, enough to meet the criteria for an alert.

“Amber alerts go out statewide,” Miller said.

OHP said all states use the same standards under the Department of Justice.

“We communicate with them and if we believe that they are traveling into that area we can have that state issue an Amber Alert,” Miller said.

As for how Lee got to Houston, that's still under investigation, but family said they're just happy to know that she will be home safe soon.
