Accreditation was a large portion of the state board meeting.
Epic Charter School’s probation was lifted, while Mustang Public Schools faces a different situation.
Mustang Public Schools faced an accreditation warning in 2022, putting the district in jeopardy of losing its probation, should future violations occur.
According to OSDE, Mustang Public Schools has one deficiency.
Mustang is expected to put out a statement regarding their accreditation status Friday.
As for Epic Charter Schools they released a message to their families today announcing their full accreditation:
“This means that, once again, we are in full compliance with state guidelines in terms of our financial, operational, and institutional responsibilities.”
Infinity Generation Generals, a small preparatory school in Oklahoma City, did not get their accreditation. However, the school board heard concerns from the school's president and voted to further discuss their accreditation next month.
Lines began forming early Thursday morning to get into the meeting, as capacity has been an issue for the meetings in the past. The state fire marshall said only 49 people were allowed into today’s meeting, but that did not stop Walters supporters and protesters alike from showing up.
