"Immediately after trying to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle that was traveling eastbound, the vehicle began accelerating, beginning a pursuit," Benjamin Weir with Oklahoma City Police said

Police said they terminated the pursuit once the Honda Sedan was at 85 mph. The department has rules for pursuits.

A chase should be terminated if the suspect speed endangers the public or officers.

During another pursuit, police attempted to stop Lance Miller near Southwest 119th and Interstate 44 Monday afternoon when he took off. For 20 minutes, Miller led police and troopers on a steady chase. Police said he was going the speed limit.

"We have to take precautions, especially this time of day with the amount of traffic. We have certain rules in place that allow these pursuits to end safely," Lt. Robert Allen with Oklahoma City Police said.

The policy said officers should consider deploying additional backup can Air One over the pursuit.

Once Air One is up, the ground pursuit can end. Officers did follow this procedure keeping their distance.

On Tuesday morning, Kenneth Mosby pushed a female to the ground before stealing her car and beginning a pursuit.

Police performed a tactical maneuver to get him to stop near Northwest 35th and Classen.

So far, no arrests have been made in this morning's pursuit. The victim's name also hasn't been released.
