An Oklahoma City woman wants her sister to be remembered for more than her final moment.

Inside one Oklahoma City home, a family gathered to look at photos and remember the life of Tiffany Murillo. For Brittany Murillo, this family get-together was not planned.

“It’s very heartbreaking,” Murillo said. “I don’t think I’ll ever forget that phone call. Ever.”

The person missing from their family table brings immense pain especially when the wound is so fresh.

“We’ll never get it back,” Murillo said. “It felt like time just stopped.”

Last Friday, along Highway 9 in Norman, another car turned into the other lane. A stretch of road with more than 700 collisions since 2019 according to the Norman Police Department.

“When God calls us out of this life, it’s time, you know?” said David Murillo, Tiffany Murillo’s father.

The Murillo family lost 26-year-old Tiffany Murillo. However, her daughter Emma survived.

“Doctors are calling her a miracle baby,” Murillo said.

David said his daughter lived a difficult life.

“But in the end, she never gave up,” he said. “I’m thankful for that.”

Tiffany’s mother, Rhonda Mitchell, said the car seat in Tiffany’s car likely saved her granddaughter.

“She took care of her child,” Mitchell said. “Her child lives, and her legacy is that she’s a great mother.”

It’s one of many reasons Murillo misses her sister.

“Greatly. I see her. I see her in everything,” Murillo said. “I see her in her children.”

Murillo knows what one crash can take away.

“I’m deeply pained that [her children] have to grow up without their mother,” Murillo said.

However, she wants people to remember Tiffany’s love.

“[Family is] the absolute cornerstone of everything in my life,” Murillo said.

The Murillo family is seeking donations to help with funeral costs. Anyone willing to donate can visit the family’s GoFundMe page.
